He got his doctor degree from Osaka University in Japan and now is a professor at the University of Kentucky. 

His main research direction is the role of high-density lipoprotein and its receptor SRBI in sepsis. 

Over fifty papers had been published in journals  such as circular research. 

In 2009, he was awarded the Irvine H Page Young Scientist Award by the American College of Cardiology, and in 2013, he was awarded the middle-aged scientist award by the American College of Cardiology. 

He is the  first person who discovered the protective effect of SRBI in sepsis. 

Recently, he proposed that precise medical methods should be used to implement glucocorticoid therapy for sepsis.
